Ex Makina

In 2014 Iain Campbell found himself standing in front of “The Queen’s Temple” in a forest in Buckingham, England, faced by walls of shimmering analog synthesizers and 5.1 surround speakers. As the assistant to eminent Hollywood composer Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, Call of Duty, Prometheus) he had been tasked to install electricity into this ancient building to assist in a year of composing where Hollywood would meet pastoral England. Iain and his wife, Rebecca, lived in the small village of Syresham nearby. Having met on tour for a previous musical incarnation at the age of 20 they lived in vans and planes together becoming near mortal enemies almost immediately. A year later they headlined a stage at Glastonbury, appeared live on Radio 1 and were happily married. After work they cycled 25 minutes through a forest to reach the temple in the evenings and begin work on their side-hustle: Ex Makina. Several months later they emerged with their first fruits.
