Dewayne “Pettidee” Petty was introduced to the music industry as a 14-year-old record salesman in the renowned “DJ’s Record Store” in Jacksonville, Florida. Now residing in Nashville, the lifelong musician has been featured alongside prominent hip-hop artists including Grits, Derek Minor, and LeCrae. But it’s Pettidee’s own solo music career that’s currently in-focus. His most recent EP I’m a Beast is a five track hybrid of hip-hop and trap that cranks everything up to the max. An onslaught of beat and rhyme, I’m a Beast’s electronic beats are augmented by Pettidee’s signature baritone and raspy delivery. Rising swells and gigantic beat drops set the scene for Pettidee’s rousing energy. There’s an effective use of repetition on the EP.
